Conclusion:

Is Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus a worthwhile game to add to your library? I have a hard time saying it is currently. I still dislike directly comparing one game to another, but I think it may help explain my feelings here. The New Order, the previous game, was not only on target but hit bullseyes for several important game characteristics that determine enjoyment and satisfaction in a game. (I should admit I have not played the game for some time and am going off of memory.) The New Colossus is still on target, but it is not hitting those bullseyes. Performance, it nails that bullseye as well or better than any game immediately coming to mind for me. Gameplay and story are not even quite to the center ring on the target, so while it does score points (metaphorically since I do not grant points), there is clear room for improvement.

The graphics are good with some effects really standing out as impressive to me while performance is second-to-none for games in their launch or near-launch state. The story is weak with a number of missed opportunities, in-game spoiled twists, and a failure to connect me to the game world and motivating me to move forward. The gameplay is fun but has missed opportunities and fails to motivate me to keep playing to achieve game-changing weapons and upgrades.
