Serious Statistics Pt. 2: The Sync Encounter

Borderless – V-Sync and Triple Buffering:

When we looked at this combination while using fullscreen we saw that the advantages of triple buffering are apparently lost. That continues to be true here.

The display times again line up at 16.667 ms.

Currently we have in-game v-sync, that I think adds double buffering, in-game triple buffering, and DWM double buffering going on, so we really should not expect encouraging results from the frame latency graphs.

It looks very similar to what we had before with borderless and v-sync together, so it would seem triple-buffering is effectively lost in this combination.

If you think this is getting boring, consider what it is like writing this, collecting the data, and designing the graphs. On the bright side of doing this, you may get some interesting results like we are about to see with the frame rate limiter.
