Reeven Okeanos RC-1402 Review

Reeven Okeanos RC-1402 Conclusion:

As I wrap up the Okeanos RC-1402 cooler review, I have to say that the Okeanos definitely left a positive impression. The performance was on par with coolers that are much more expensive. The dual size heat pipe design along with the way the pipes are oriented in the fin stack, are perhaps the key to the great performance. The 140mm and 120mm PWM fans move plenty of air, which makes the Okeanos a top performer.

Most people don't change coolers very often, so the installation process may not be a big deal. But I change coolers in my test system quite often, so for me the installation is a little more of a factor. The Okeanos and Ouranos both use the same mounting system, and it could stand to be updated to be more like the method used by Noctua (and many others now). It wouldn't take much to get there - just a couple of spring-loaded screws retained to the base. And again, most people aren't changing coolers like I do, so a few extra minutes for an install is not a problem. RAM clearance can be an issue with large air coolers. With the Okeanos, it is a bit tight, and RAM with tall heat spreaders might be a problem, so that would definitely be worth looking into.

It is certainly a struggle to compete in a market that is flooded with low cost air coolers. Then you have to deal with AIO (all in one) liquid coolers that have now become mainstream and affordable. Every last design trick needs to be explored to pull every fraction of a degree away from the CPU - and do it for a competitive price. I think Reeven has a solid product with the Okeanos RC-1402. Now, if you look at the Ouranos, which shares similar performance for roughly $20 less, it might be hard to choose. They are both great coolers.

The build quality is at the high-end and with pricing in the $75 to $80 range, the Reeven Okeanos RC-1402 is definitely worth considering. The only down-side is that the Reeven products are still difficult to find Stateside. I checked at NewEgg, Tiger Direct, and Amazon with no luck and that is a shame because Reeven has found a nice balance between quality, performance, and price.
