NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Overclocking Review

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Overclocked Testing:

Unigine Heaven 4.0:

Unigine Heaven Benchmark 4.0 is a DirectX 11 GPU benchmark based on the Unigine engine. This was the first DX 11 benchmark to allow testing of DX 11 features. What sets the Heaven Benchmark apart is the addition of hardware tessellation, available in three modes – Moderate, Normal, and Extreme. Although tessellation requires a video card with DirectX 11 support and Windows Vista/7, the Heaven Benchmark also supports DirectX 9, DirectX 10, DirectX 11, and OpenGL 4.0. Visually, it features beautiful floating islands that contain a tiny village and extremely detailed architecture.

Ashes of the Singularity:

Ashes of the Singularity is a massive, real-time strategy game on a grand scale. Developed by Oxide Games and Stardock Entertainment, Ashes of the Singularity runs on the new Nitrous engine, which enables thousands of units fighting it out on-screen. It uses DirectX 12, one of the first games to use the new API, and it helps provide even more detail to battles. Ashes of the Singularity recently came out of early access development, with more content added all the time to expand the world and its story.

3DMark: The just-released version of Futuremark's popular 3DMark suite is designed to let a wider range of the user base make a comparative analysis of the gaming prowess of their systems from entry level PCs, to notebooks, and extreme gaming PCs.

In the Unigine Heaven 4.0 test, NVIDIA's GTX 1070 delivers performance on par with the GTX Titan X across all three resolutions. Ultimately it is the same story through each and every benchmark that I ran the GTX 1070 through. In Ashes of the Singularity, the GTX 1070 shows that it is fully ready to handle DX12 gaming. In 3DMark, again the GTX Titan X and GTX 1070 are delivering almost identical results. The performance gap between the GTX 1070 and the GTX 970 is absolutely huge. More like a chasm than a gap when you do the math.
