MSI Z170A Gaming M7 Testing:

Cinebench R15 is useful for testing your system, CPU, and OpenGL capabilities using the software program, CINEMA 4D. We will be using the default tests for this benchmark.

X.264 Benchmark: This benchmark is used to measure the time it takes to encode a 1080p video file into the x264 format. The default benchmark is used with an average of all four tests on each pass taken as the result.

AIDA64 Extreme Edition 3.0 is a software utility designed to be used for hardware diagnosis and benchmarking. I will be using the Cache and Memory benchmark tool to measure memory performance.

The combination of a higher base core clock speed and the implementation of DDR4 memory help drive results for the MSI Z170A Gaming M7 higher than the Z97-based comparison system. One area that DDR4 struggles with at speed is the looser timing required to run at higher speeds and lower voltages that result in higher latency numbers. Overall, bandwidth is much higher than a DDR3-based system.
