mean:it 5PM ARC Red Case Testing:

Testing involved recording temperatures in degrees Celsius for the CPU and GPU during idle and load phases. The load was simulated by running Prime95’s small FFTs and 3DMark Vantage for one hour. The maximum temperatures were recorded using HW Monitor 1.21.0. Please note that each case is tested from its factory setup, including the location of fans unless otherwise noted.


Testing Setup:




The thermal imaging camera will show us where the heat is concentrated. In the picture to the left, the CPU is at idle and shows exhaust air at around 26 °C. The blue areas are the coolest (ambient) followed by shades of red, which are a little warmer, increasing to orange, and finally, the warmest being yellow. The fans from the D14 CPU cooler direct the excess heat to the rear of the case, where it is then pushed out. After kicking in the mild overclock, the temps go up close to 40 °C coming out of the rear of the case. There is another hot spot toward the bottom, and that is the power supply working hard (and generating heat) to supply the system with enough power.

The GPU testing shows similar results to other test cases, and this is to be expected when using a reference style (blower) GPU. The blower pulls cool air from the case and ejects it out of the rear, so heat build up in the case is minimal. I like reference-style coolers, although they can be a bit noisy when the fan spools up.

With all the thermal testing done, the 5PM performed as expected, and the three included front 120mm fans and single rear 120mm fan did a good job of keeping the air flowing through the case. Most people don't keep their systems constantly stressed, so heat build-up is not really an issue, but this testing shows that the 5PM can handle the heat. You do have the option of adding up to three more 120mm fans or two 140mm fans on top of the case, so you can move even more air to meet the needs of your system.
