Fnatic Gear Flick G1 Optical Mouse Review

Fnatic Gear Flick G1 Optical MouseTesting:

Now we finally get into testing the Fnatic Gear Flick G1 Gaming mouse. As with every review, I went into this one with no preconceived notions about the product. I wanted to see what it can do on its own without constantly comparing it to something it's not. The Flick G1 is a gaming mouse, but as with most mice that we buy, we need them to pull double duty as our main everyday mouse as well. Who wants to be switching out a mouse constantly, right? So I went into this test with two scenarios in mind. I wanted to see how it held up to playing my games, of course, but also how it did at everyday tasks such as working on school work or doing my 9-5 job as I work out of my house and use my computer constantly. So for a solid week, I used no other mouse but this and really put it to the test in not only performance, but comfort and day-to-day use.

Testing Setup:

Fnatic Gear Flick G1 Optical Mouse: Results

Office Mode:

Since the majority of my day is spent working out of my home office and doing school papers, I use my computer and mouse quite a bit more for everyday tasks than gaming. One thing I noticed off of the bat is the comfort of this mouse is outstanding. The rubberized coating really keeps the mouse in your hand without slipping. I didn't experience any hand fatigue or finger fatigue over the whole week and I used the mouse, on average, 12+ hours a day with work, school, and light gaming. The responsiveness was excellent, and the scrolling using the wheel was one of the smoothest experiences I have had with a mouse scroll wheel for some time. The sweet spot I found for CPI was about 800, which gave enough movement to navigate my dual 24-inch monitors, but not too much to make it fly right off the screen. The back and forward buttons worked very well during Internet browsing, making navigation that much quicker. Overall, probably the best mouse experience I have had doing day-to-day tasks.

Gaming Mode:

Gaming is really where this mouse shined. The responsiveness to the movement and the key press was outstanding. I really like the feedback of the button switches that tell me the key was pressed so I don't second guess firing. I played mostly Call of Duty III and World of Warships with the Flick G1, and the ability to adjust the CPI on-the-fly was paramount when running versus controlling vehicles. I also was able to setup a macro for World of Warships that shot the torpedoes on my destroyer, then switched to guns automatically and start firing them one at a time. Very useful feature and really helped get me out of a jam or two. All in all, this mouse was well designed with what a gamer needs and nothing they don't.

Now that we have seen and the Flick G1 has conquered, we can finish up.
