Dying Light 2 Dispatch Unboxing
Dying Light 2 Dispatch Unboxing:
I received a pretty neat package recently, and while the title of this article definitely gives away what it was, I still want to mention I think this is the first time I have directly received any item from another country. My life tends to be not that interesting so this is pretty neat on its own, but much cooler once I opened it up.
From Warsaw, Poland, the home of Techland, this package contains a letter, poster, post-card size piece of paper, and UV flashlight, all to build up the upcoming release of Dying Light 2. The original game released in 2015 and I was fortunate enough to get to review Dying Light then, and with the sequel coming out soon, I am looking forward to getting into it. Exactly how soon, I do not know as the release date has not yet been revealed, but perhaps that information will be shared before long, based on what was in the package.
Starting with the letter, it reminds us of the first game's setting, Harran, and states the events of that game were just the beginning. Now the city needs our help, and to learn more we must hunt for clues.
Hello, survivor!
Remember Harran?
Of course you do. But all that-that was just the beginning... Now The City is our refuge, and it needs your help.
Want to know more?
You will, but you'll have to hunt. I had to hide the info-this place isn't safe. Track down the clues and remember, it's all for your eyes only. This message cannot fall into the wrong hands.
You're our last chance survivor!
As you probably already guessed, the UV flashlight is the key for finding these clues, and while these are hidden on the poster, there is UV reflective material on the letter as well. When illuminated, it shows various marks on it, like scratches and some that looks like splatter. As you can see in the image, there is also blood splatter as part of the letter's image, but these invisible marks do not resemble that, so I am not entirely sure what they are meant to represent, assuming they are meant to represent anything.
Looking at the poster now, we have a portrait of a section of the city, it appears, with a pileup of cars on a bridge trying to leave the city, only ending where the bridge itself is collapsing. Around the bridge we can see several tall buildings, with some likely containing apartments and others offices. Importantly, they almost all appear to have some kind of vegetation growing on them, including trees that have clearly been there for years. According to the game's site, 15 years have passed since the events of the first game, which would be enough for these trees to arrive and grow on the tops of buildings, as well as for the disrepair of broken windows and falling sections also visible. There is also graffiti on some of the buildings, as well as a billboard saying "You Better Run." Behind the pileup of cars and under where that board is, there appear to be some defenses, including a wall with a man-door in it.
Of course the more interesting information is what is revealed by the UV light, so here it is.
The poster does have similar invisible streaks and marks on it as the letter, but obviously the hidden messages are more interesting. On the left of the poster we see:
27TH OF MAY
9PM CEST
Directly above this date and time is the address of Techland's Twitch channel. If you are, like the message on the right side of the poster says, "DYING 2 KNOW" more about Dying Light 2 that is where you should look.
I do not have any special knowledge of what will be revealed then, but I know I am hoping for a release date. It has been six years since its predecessor and it should be a lot of fun to return to Harran and hunt down zombies while free-running across the city. They will be hidden during the day, avoiding sunlight, but at night they will freely roam, thereby granting access to the areas they had been occupying.
