Cooler Master Mizar Gaming Mouse Review

Cooler Master Mizar Gaming Mouse Testing:

The Cooler Master Mizar Gaming Mouse was defiantly put through over a week of use and testing. During this time it was used in everyday use; surfing the Internet, Photoshopping, and of course, some gaming. A mouse is personal to each and every individual, so how it responds in these various tasks is important in different ways to everyone. This rather subjective review is best to provide you the feedback from use rather than assigning made up numbers trying to compare one mouse to another. It's pretty easy to distinguish the likes and dislikes of a mouse through words rather than leaving it to you to decide what a 7 or 8 really means. No guessing game – here's what I liked, and here's what I hated.

Everyday Use:

The CM Mizar was quick to plug and play. It didn't require software to be installed and the default button configuration just made sense. The default DPI settings were enough to play with to find something that worked well enough to just use. The software was the added bonus to tweak and perfect for more precise use. For reading email, surfing the net, and simply navigating the OS, the Mizar did just fine. It was nice to have something work out of the box. Although more products are beginning to do this, you still get a few that have terrible default button locations. For your basic everyday tasks at a desktop or laptop this will be just fine (perhaps even a little overkill for some).

As for working, I tend to use a keyboard more for my working needs, but I tend to dabble with Photoshop a bit here and there so one can pretend and call that work. Here a bit of precision is nice to have and a real defined control between user and mouse pointer is desired. This mouse handles both those tasks excellently. With the option to have on-the-fly DPI settings at the press of a button you can have lower DPI for more precise movement while maintaining the higher DPI values for fast navigation without having to fidget with the OS sensitivity or any bit of software to make the change. The mouse is also rather comfortable, which really comes into play with long hours of work (or soon to be gaming). So that is something well worth considering if you do have a heavy amount of mouse-ing in your work load.

With the Mizar calling itself a "gaming" mouse the bar is raised a bit. When you have a mouse that does not make these claims it can get away with a bit more. Critical factors in gaming are precision, reaction time, and for many, comfort. Precision and reaction time are covered in about every mouse these days, especially in gaming branded mice. You usually don't (not going to say never here) find a mouse marked for gaming that is incredibly laggy or wobbly on the screen. The market has seemed to have nailed those problems down and moved on to the appearance as well as comfort of the mouse.

This mouse seems to be a perfect fit that looks to handle my smaller hands as well as provide support for you larger-handed friends out there. As mentioned before, the dry/flat texture of the body of the mouse makes a nice sweat-free environment that allows long game play without having sweaty palms or feeling the need to crank up the A/C on the warmer days. The rubber grips on the sides provide a nice grip helping you keep control of the mouse in the most intense battles. Though the mouse isn't full of macro buttons, the extra buttons it does have aren't in the way while gaming, and are also not too far from reach if you do want/need them. It is a pretty comfortable right-handed grip fit. I never claw grip, so although it says it's good for it (as well as the palm grip), I can't provide adequate feedback. If any of you claw grippers out there have some feedback – comment in the forum!
