ASUS X99-A Testing:

CrystalDiskMark 3.0: CrystalDiskMark is a hard drive benchmark designed to measure the read and write speeds of drives by using 4K blocks, 512K blocks, and sequential data. For the test, we chose the 1000MB option.

ATTO 2.47: will be used to measure USB 3.0 performance using an SSD attached to an external USB 3.0 drive dock.

SATA Express Testing:

While testing the standard test drive using CrystalDiskMark, the similarities across the X99 and X79 platforms are very close in the level of performance delivered. In the USB 3.0 testing the X99-A seems to deliver sightly higher performance levels in the ATTO 2.47 tests. While the jury is still out on which standard will become the next best thing between SATA Express and M.2, we get to see how SATA performance scales in comparison to SATA 6Gbps.
