ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero Testing:

LAN performance will be tested via a utility to gauge the performance of the onboard network solutions. The motherboard being tested will be connected via a Gigabit switch to another system with an integrated Gigabit network solution on board.

iPerf is a small lightweight utility run from the command prompt and can be used to measure both TCP and UDP performance on a network. iPerf is cross-platform software and open source. The test is configured to run for 20 seconds with a window size of 256 KB and four simultaneous streams that should be able to saturate the TCP link on a good NIC.

LAN performance is what I would expect on my test bench and I see pretty much between 949Mbits and 944Mbits depending on the board. WIth the ASUS ROG Crosshair VI, you can use ASUS' own Game First IV tool to manage network traffic at the application level. If you really want to get the most out of your gaming experience, you can choose which applications are first in line to travel through that Cat5 or Cat6 line to the Interwebs. Sound testing is highly subjective depending on your "ear." I have found that this SupremeFX solution from ASUS lives up to the reputation, delivering clean sound out of both the front and rear outputs. It did not matter whether I was having fun with some BF1 action or listening to a wide variety of music. They all sounded great.
