ASUS, MSI, EVGA GTX 950 Testing:

Power consumption of the system will be measured at both idle and loaded states, taking into account the peak voltage of the system with each video card installed. I will use Unigine Heaven Benchmark version 4.0 to put a load onto the GPU using the settings below. A fifteen-minute load test will be used to heat up the GPU, with the highest power usage recorded as the final result. The idle results will be measured after fifteen minutes of inactivity on the system with the lowest recorded power usage as the final result.

During the power consumption testing I have a mixed bag of results that fit into a very small envelope. The ASUS Strix, EVGA SSC, and MSI Gaming all deliver idle numbers that differ by no more than two watts at stock speeds and just over four watts when overclocked. Under load, the maximum margin at stock speeds is five watts, and when overclocked it narrows to four watts for some really consistent results across the board. If I had to pick the thermal performance winner, it would be a tough choice to make based on the thermal performance of each card at each way point in the testing.
