Square Enix shared a couple things this week, including the Story Introduction trailer for Forspoken, a Spring 2022 title coming from Luminous Productions. In this trailer we learn more about Frey, the directionless protagonist that has become quite a street-smart young woman because of her rough upbringing in New York City. While dreaming on getting out of the city, she suddenly founds herself entering the world of Athia through a portal. With glades, ruins, castles, and cliffs to explore, Athia is definitely not like Earth as she knows it, and dragons, goblin-like monsters, and her ability to wield magic to defeat them is also a bit unusual. Fortunately her magical and sentient bracelet, Cuff, is there to help her.
The trailer is behind an age-gate on YouTube, so here is the link for those interested: Forspoken – Story Introduction Trailer.

Fortunately it appears they will have some help from the Xandarian Worldmind and Cosmo, the telepathic Russian space dog.
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is set to release on October 26 for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and GeForce Now. The Cloud Version for Nintendo Switch will also arrive on that day, though only for select regions.

Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation released back in 2016, but just because the game is years old does not mean developer Stardock has forgotten about it. This massive-scale RTS has received its v3.1 update that should improve load times and performance while also delivering major balance updates. At the top of the changelog we see an update to the Mesh optimization pass is what has reduced load times by up to 70% and a couple points down we see the maximum number of threads the game can use has been increased from 16 to 24. This increase should improve performance, especially when there are thousands of units to deal with.
Stardock has also released a new DLC for the game, Core Worlds that adds five new maps that are asymmetrical, which will make managing units more interesting, to avoid being bottlenecked or crushed by enemies. Resources have been distributed to offset some of the terrain challenges. The DLC is priced at $2.99 and you can check out its trailer below.
