The end of the week has arrived, so it is time to go through some of the video game news that has arrived, starting with the time-sensitive news for the GOG Games Festival. From now until September 2, GOG is running this large sale that also includes the arrival of various games to its DRM-free library. For classic games, four Tomb Raider titles have been added and GOG has announced upcoming titles such as Psychonauts 2 will be arriving next week, on August 25. You can also find many games on sale such as Bioshock Infinite, Gods Will Fall, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and Cyberpunk 2077 which recently received its 1.3 update. That patch includes various improvements and optimizations along with some new content. Also, for those with a GPU that supports ray-tracing, Quake II RTX is now available on GOG for free. This version only includes three levels of the game, but if you also own the original, you can have access to all of the levels with ray tracing and the many other effects NVIDIA added.

Splitgate from 1047 Games has been wildly popular in its current open beta phase, to the point the developers have already had to delay the official launch as they work to increase server capacity. Now the developers have decided to extend the open beta period longer as they continue to work on the game's backend to improve the multiplayer experience. This extensive is currently indefinite though, so we no longer have a release date target but the game is fully playable in this open beta. If you decide to give the free-to-play FPS with portals game a try, just remember to be patient if you do not load in immediately.

Have a couple of news items from Techland and am starting with the announcement for Dying Light as a new event has begun for this game that originally launched six years ago. Named Low Gravity, alien forces have arrived in Harran, and the players much fight to protect Earth from this invasion and the influence of the invaders. During the even players will be able to jump higher, fall slower, take less damage from a fall, and use a grappling hook to quickly zip to a target. Actually players are not the only ones to feel this influence as the infected too will fall more slowly and take no damage from falling while explosions and the dropkick can send them flying.

As part of the event, special challenges have been added such as the local event to defeat 100 enemies. Players who achieve this will receive the V-27 Chameleon Machete (gold) and if the global event of eliminating 100 million infected is achieved, players will get three King upgrades. Players can also purchase the Astronaut Pack that contains the machete, the V-23 Eraser laser rifle, V-40 Suspender stasis pistol, V-9 defender suit, and V-39 Star Rover buggy skin. The Astronaut pack is priced at $2.99.

The Low Gravity even is going until September 1.

Finishing this week off is some news from EK Water Blocks I thought some might be interested in. For starters the custom liquid cooling has begun its Back to School sale that includes some deals as well as free EK-Vardar S 120ER D-RGB fans with the purchase of an EK-AIO D-RGB cooler. If instead you are looking to do a custom build, the company has also launched its EK-Loop Connect – Temperature Plug Sensor that can be installed in any open G1/4 port and connected to the EK-Loop Connect control hub or a motherboard temperature sensor connector. As liquid coolers actually cool the liquid and not the hardware components directly, being able to monitor the liquid temperature can be important to achieve optimal performance and to trigger emergency shutdowns, if things get too warm. The sensor can measure between 0 ºC and 90 ºC, has a nickel finish, and is priced at $6.99 in the EK Webshop.

Lastly, the company has launched its EK-Loop Screwdriver Basic Set that includes a magnetic screwdriver handle and 48 bits to make maintaining a custom loop easier. It includes standard, security, and specialty bits to cover various piece of hardware, from PCs to smartphones, consoles, small appliances, and more. You can see the complete list of bits through the source link below. The set is priced at $23.41 in the EK Webshop.
