It is Friday once again, making it time to cover some video games news but this week has been relatively calm in that respect with only a handful of items. First up is an update from 1047 Games as it has decided to delay the launch of Splitgate by two weeks. The reason is actually somewhat positive though, as the studio was so overwhelmed by the open beta seeing 2 million players download it, and so this extra time is to reinforce the servers. The new release date is August 10 for this free-to-play game and it is coming to PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
The open beta is remaining open during this time, and on Tuesday, the game's original release date, it received an update adding some of what was planned for that release. Also, the venture firm Human Capital that invests in startups to help scale up engineering teams has infused the studio with $10 million to help with the current challenges and those that will come in the future.

A new trailer has been shared for Hot Wheels Unleashed this week, featuring more of the 66 cars that will be available at launch for players to race on the iconic orange tracks. These new cars include some entertainment IP vehicles such as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Party Wagon, Snoopy, K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider, and the DeLorean Time Machine from Back to the Future, and a Batmobile. There is also a list of original manufacture cars from the Humvee and 1956 Ford Truck to the Mini cooper S Challenge and Audi Sport Quattro. With the game's Rarity System players will be able to collect and dismantle vehicles to gain upgrades for others. Some of these upgrades can only be found in unique and secret ways as well.
Hot Wheels Unleashed from Mattel and Milestone will be releasing on September 30 for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.

There are a couple announcements this week concerning Marvel's Avengers from Square Enix as it has received a free update and the release date for its upcoming Black Panther – War for Wakanda DLC has been revealed. The update adds the first end-game challenge, the Omega-Level Threat: Family Reunion. These missions require four-player teams at a power level of 145, though the game's maximum level of 150 is recommended. Omega-Level Threats can be repeated freely, but the best gear is awarded only once per week.
Also part of the free update was the ability of running existing Mega Hive missions with other players and multiple-heroes feature that was introduced in the Tachyon Anomaly April event has been made permanent. The latter allows teams to be formed with multiple of the same hero for any mission.
Black Panther – War for Wakanda will launch on August 17 as a free update for all owners of the core game. Besides adding Black Panther to the roster of heroes, two new villains arrive as well, a new environment, and more.
Celebrating this announcement, Marvel's Avengers is free to play over this weekend on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Google Stadia. There are several promotions going on during the weekend as well, including a 400% bonus to experience, a 50% sale in the in-game marketplace, and the Tachyon Anomaly event returns as well. The game itself is on sale at 40% off as well, for those who decide they want to continue the experience past August 1.

Lastly, Ubisoft has shared the release date for Assassin's Creed Valhalla's second expansion, The Siege of Paris, is August 12. Players will be able to take Eivor to France to conquer new lands, fight new enemies, and forge new alliances. You will also find new weapons, abilities, gear, and skills to help you hunt the new enemy types and take on Infiltration Missions. These missions are derived from the fan favorite Black Box Missions of prior games in the series where you are given a target and allowed to eliminate them as you wish. The expansion is included as part of the Season Pass and can be purchased separately for $24.99.
Additionally, Season 3, Sigrblot Season has begun in the game with its accompanying festival going until August 19. This content is available to all players, allowing everyone to celebrate the start of the Raiding season. There are three new quests to do, exclusive rewards including weapons, and new opportunities for flyting, fighting, and playing the dice mini-game.
