Today be quiet! announced its new Silent Base 801 case, a mid-tower chassis large enough to hold E-ATX motherboards and custom liquid cooling systems while also offering quiet operation. It is available with either a solid side panel that has 10 mm of sound insulating foam, or a windowed side panel to show off your components. Both versions come with three Pure Wings 2 140 mm fans that are controlled by a fan controller and the insulating foam mats in the top and front and opposite side. That controlled supports up to six 3-pin fans and can be connected to a PWM connection on the motherboard for automatic control, or manual control from the case's front panel.

To get inside the case the side panels are released using a push-pin mechanism that allows them to fall slightly to the side for removal. These panels can be swapped if you wish, as the motherboard tray itself can be inverted if you want it on the opposite side of the case, or removed from the case as a test bench. Beneath the PSU shroud is space for a dual 3.5 in HDD cage and above there is space for five more 3.5 in HDD cages, though the case only comes with three. All of these cages are decoupled, to minimize vibration, as are the PSU bracket and motherboard tray. On the back of the motherboard tray are slots for three 2.5 in drives. To help keep things neat for presenting, the version with the Window side panel comes with HDD slot covers for hiding the unused openings, though they are also adjustable for cable routing.

While the case is design to keep things quiet, it supports up to a 420 mm radiator (3x 140 mm) in the front, a 360 mm radiator (3x 120 mm) in the top, and 140 mm radiator in the rear, or the equivalent number of fans. The top also has a detachable bracket, for easier installation of fans and radiators.

The Silent Base 801 has a recommend price of $149 for the normal version and $159 for the windowed version. Both are available with orange, black, or silver highlights.
