For Honor Getting PvE Mode with Marching Fire Update

The Marching Fire update for For Honor has already been labeled as the game's biggest update, and now we know another of the additions it will be bringing to the game is a PvE Arcade mode. In this mode, players will get to fight in randomly generated scenarios of varying difficulty. As you complete challenges, rewards will be unlocked so you can increase your characters' gear score and Reputation level. Whatever you earn in Arcade does translate over to the multiplayer modes of the game, so you can try out new heroes and rank them up there, if you wish.

The way Arcade is structured is to have them serve as micro-stories within a larger war. The difficulty levels of Common, Rare, Heroic, Epic, and Legendary correspond to your gear score, but do not worry, you can attempt harder difficulties if you wish, just do not expect it to be easy. Combat modifiers will add special buffs and debuffs to you and the AI, with difficulty setting the kind of modifiers and their severity. Once you select the quest you want, you can enter the combat chapters with increasing difficulty, and do so alone or in co-op with others, even if they do not own Marching Fire.

For anyone who does not own For Honor but are interested, the Starter Edition will be free on Steam from August 22 to August 27, and Xbox Live Gold members can get it free there until September 15, through the Games with Gold program. If you pre-order Marching Fire, you will get the four Wu Lin heroes the update will introduce and an elite outfit for each immediately upon release. A For Honor: Marching Fire Edition will be available for pre-order in the future, and will include the base game and the expansion.
