NVIDIA Will Discuss Its Next Mainstream GPU at HotChips

Category: Video Cards
Posted: 10:03AM

This year's HotChips symposium on high-performance chips will be held from August 19 to August 21, and now we know on August 20 NVIDIA will be discussing its next generation mainstream GPU. While this does not necessarily tell us anything about when the highly anticipated GeForce GTX 1100 series will launch, at least we know we will learn more about its architecture and capabilities on that day. Currently, the dominant speculation is it will be based on the Turing architecture and be manufactured on the same 12 nm process as Volta. Beyond that everything is rumor and thus not necessarily reliable. On the bright side, it is entirely possible the GTX 1100 series will launch before HotChips 2018, but only time will tell.
