GTX 1170 Specs Possibly Leaked

Last week an entry for the GTX 1180 appeared in the TechPowerUp GPU database and now we have some rumored specs for the GTX 1170. According to WCCFtech, it will feature 2688 CUDA cores with a 256-bit GDDR6 bus connected to 8 GB or 16 GB of the memory. This memory might come in slower than the GTX 1180, at only 12 Gbps. The core clock is supposed to be around 1.5 GHz but boosts up to 1.8 GHz with what is expected to be a TDP of 140 W to 160 W. Potentially this combination of specifications would have it come in just behind the GTX 1080 Ti, though with a much lower TDP. The MSRP might be around $499, which would put it above the price of the GTX 1070.

WCCFtech also states the GPU in the GTX 1170 is a GT104, which suggested it is the 104 class GPU on the Turing architecture. (The current GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 use the GP104 GPU.) While this is in line with previous rumors concerning the Turing and Ampere architectures, it does differ from the TechPowerUp entry for the GTX 1180, which claims it will be using a GV104, meaning Volta. Supposedly we can expect to see these two GTX 1100 series cards launching in July, so should have all of that cleared up in the coming months, if at least that part of the rumor is accurate.
