Microsoft Supposedly Considering Purchasing Game Studios, Including EA and Valve

This definitely is a rumor, but is an interesting rumor as there is some speculation and reporting that Microsoft is considering acquiring game studios to bolster its Xbox One first-party lineup. Among the studios being considered though are EA, Valve, and PUBG Corp., which Microsoft signed a deal with to make PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds a timed exclusive.

Microsoft apparently has at least $130 billion in cash, and with EA's market capitalization coming in at around $36 billion, the possibility is real. The company has purchased other game studios in the past, but not always with great success with Lionhead being shut down and Rare not contributing much, though that may change with the release of Sea of Theives. Mojang, the Minecraft developer, would be the standout success of these purchases.

It is hard to imagine the video game industry with Microsoft owning EA, but more so Valve being purchased. Only time will tell what happens, but it is very possible we will see news of Microsoft buying a game studio in the future.
