Kaspersky Labs Closing Washington DC Office

Category: General News
Posted: 11:55AM

Kaspersky Labs Inc., the company behind products the U.S. Department of Homeland Security banned, is closing its Washington D.C. office, which was selling it software to the government. The company is not pulling out of the country though, as it intends to open up new offices in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Toronto next year. To counter claims its products can be used for espionage, the company is also going to open its source code up for third-party review. To help facilitate audits of its code, the Kaspersky is also going to open Transparency Centers with SCIF-class (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) facilities for independent experts to analyze the code and question Kaspersky employees.
