As video games continue to grow in popularity, it is hardly surprising to see the dominant PC gaming portal also grow, but crossing 17 million users logged into Steam at the same time is a milestone. This record peak was achieved over the weekend when there were 17,683,804 users all signed in at the same time. At about the same time the number of users playing through Steam also reached a new peak of 6,882,012, and according to Digital Trends, almost 3 million of them were enjoying PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS, coming in well ahead of Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, the second and third place that combined had about 2 million players at the time.

It seems reasonable to expect these records to be broken before too long, especially when PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS enters Asian markets thanks to a publishing deal with Tencent and formal agreement with the Chinese government.
