Tom Clancy's The Division Gets a Release Date

Tom Clancy's The Division was first announced a while ago, and then almost seemed to disappear. E3 is a good time for games to return to the forefront, and it has more information about the gameplay, as well as a release date of March 8, 2016. This open world RPG will be coming to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PCs.

The Division is set in New York City after it has been devastated by a virus. With society quickly breaking down as food and water run out, The Division is activated to restore order. The members of the unit had previously appeared to lead ordinary lives, but are actually highly trained agents meant to operate independently or in small groups. You will be able to play the game solo or with up to three other players. There are no special classes or fixed load-outs, so you can respond to the dynamic world as the situation dictates. You will also be able to upgrade weapons, gear, and skills. The most dangerous part of the city is the Dark Zone, where you can go either to work with other agents, or hunt others down to get their loot.

In North America you can already pre-order to two special editions of the game; the Gold Edition and the premium Collector's Edition. The Gold Edition includes an exclusive National Guard Gear Set and the Season Pass, while the Collector's Edition includes all of that, plus exclusive memorabilia. Pre-orders will also get you a place in the beta coming out in December for the Xbox One, and later beta access coming to all three platforms.
