Intel Explosion Injures Seven

Category: General News
Posted: 10:17AM

A blast at Intel's Arizona fabrication plant injured seven workers last Tuesday, although company officials say this has not affected production. It was reported that the accident took place at a facility that was under construction, which will build Intel's latest 22nm chip, scheduled for production sometime this year. The explosion was contained quickly by an automatic extinguishing system based on water and foam. Authorities have described the incident as a 'small blast' while an Intel representative has said that it was a 'small fire.' Fire officials have indicated that four Intel employees suffered concussions and shrapnel wounds, and were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Three other employees suffered minor injuries and were treated on the spot.
