Neverwinter DPS Companions Guide

Neverwinter has a LOT of companions to choose from. For DPS classes, you will want a companion that boosts your damage. Not all companions are created equally, however. This is a list of the best damage companions and some notes about using them effectively.

Alpha Compy: These companions are adorable and have a decent active bonus (+5% damage in Chult, +3% damage everywhere else).  With three ring slots, they are easy to gear up too! They’re a good summoned companion for Bonding Runestones. These can be found in the Companion Expedition Packs or purchased on the Auction House.

Archons: Archons are great companions, except for the Water Archon. They all increase your damage. The Fire and Air Archons both make great summoned companions, and they each have two ring slots, so they are easy to gear up! These can come from Dungeons, Glorious Resurgence Companion Packs, Crushing Wave Lockbox, or the Auction House. The Fire Archon can also be purchased with Tarmalune Trade Bars.

Chultan Tiger: This is currently the Best in Slot summoned companion; it’s like an Archon combined with a Sellsword. Their Active Bonus provides 5% increased Damage and Run Speed at the beginning of Combat for 25 seconds, and they have a chance to apply a DoT Bleed, causing them to take 10% more damage. Tigers also have two ring slots, so they are easy to gear up. These are purchased on the Zen Market or the Auction House.

Dancing Sword/Erinyes of Belial/Cambion Magus: They are all good active companions. At Epic level, the Dancing Sword provides 5% Crit Severity. The Erinyes of Belial and Cambion Magus both provide 10% Crit Severity at Epic level. The Blade is quite a bit cheaper, but doesn’t provide as much Severity. These can all be found on the Auction house. The Erinyes of Belial can also be found in the Scourge Warlock Booster Pack. The Dancing Blade can also be purchased from the Wondrous Bazaar, and the Cambion Magus can drop from dungeons.

Sellsword/Con Artist: The active bonus isn’t great for either of these: a little crit or power. However, they both have an attack that “shreds enemies’ defenses by 10%.” It debuffs your enemies and it is not included in the 200% debuff cap. This is lousy just as an Active Companion, but it’s great for a summoned companion. The Sellsword is also good for a DC. They can be purchased from the Companion Vendor in Protectors Enclave, drop from a dungeon, or be purchased at the Auction House.

Siege Master: This is a great Active companion. It’s pretty straightforward; 8% more damage in the Stronghold, 4% more damage everywhere else. These can be found in the Zen Market or Auction House.

Razerwood: This companion drops from the Lockbox in Mod 14. His active bonus is +25% Combat Advantage, +2.5% Crit Severity. This companion is considered part of a "Best in Slot" lineup, unless you run a Vorpal or Dread enchantment. These enchantments combined with this companion would put you over the hard caps on these stats.
