Conclusion:

For an air cooler the Xtreme Gear HP-1216B is one for the books. This cooler kept the system cool even when more voltage and speed was thrown at it. The Xtreme Gear was able to take on some well known coolers and still pass them up when the timing counted. It is made for a wide variety of sockets including the latest AM3 and 1366 sockets from AMD and Intel respectively. The Xtreme Gear HP-1216B is retailing from the Xtreme Gear site for $29.95 which when you take into the excellent performance the price/performance ratio makes it the best choice out of the group of air coolers tested. Add the ability to adjust the fan speed for noise suppression when full cooling is not needed and you have yourself the ability to overclock your processor while keeping it at optimum temperatures. If you're in the position that you want to push your hardware a bit but do not want to spend the time or money on water cooling pick up an Xtreme Gear HP-1216B and it will take you to the extreme.

Pros:

  • Great Air Cooling
  • Inexpensive
  • Fits newer sockets
  • Adjustable fan speed

Cons:

  • None
