XFX R9 380X DD XXX OC Testing:

Crysis 3:

This third installment of the Crysis franchise, developed by Crytek and distributed by Electronic Arts, uses the CryEngine 3 game engine and requires a DirectX 11 ready video card and operating system due to its demanding graphics engine.

  • 2x SMAA

  • System Spec = Very High

Far Cry 4:

Far Cry 4 is the latest iteration in the Far Cry series. Released in the US in November 18, 2014, it uses a modified Dunia 2 game engine as we saw in Far Cry 3 and is published and developed by Ubisoft. This action-adventure, first-person shooter offers both single player and multi-player modes.

  • FXAA
  • HBAO+
  • In-game settings = Ultra
  • God Rays = On
  • Fur and Tree Relief = On

The XFX R9 380X delivers FPS performance in Crysis 3 that is above that of the GTX 960 and R9 380 at stock speeds and in both resolutions. When overclocked, the performance gap between the GTX 960 is still in place, but the R9 380 by virtue of its higher overclock actually outperforms the R9 380X. In Far Cry 4, I see pretty much the same pattern when you look at the final results. The R9 380X is faster than the GTX 960 and R9 380 at stock speeds, but the R9 380 jumps ahead thanks to its impressive overclock.
