Thermaltake, founded in 1999, have come a long way in such a short time to become one of the leading component suppliers in the PC enthusiast market. Thermaltake now offer a wide range of products from enclosures, power supplies, coolers, liquid cooling and accessories - everything needed to enclose, cool and power your latest and greatest gaming rig.
This time around, OCC are taking a look at one of the latest offerings from Thermaltake, a new addition to the XT range, the Thermaltake Toughpower XT 775W. It's an unusual offering at 775W and it's difficult to understand the need for one that falls in between the already available Thermaltake Toughpower XT 750W and 850W units. The only reason can be a design change with hopefully better performance and Thermaltake have taken the decision to slot these into an already successful XT range. If this is the case, then the Thermaltake Toughpower XT 775W could very well be a winner. Let's have a closer look at the power supply and its accessories and see how well it performs.
The Thermaltake Toughpower XT 775W power supply packaging is based on a predominantly satin black theme with coloured illustrations and photographs used to good effect. The top face of the box carries a photograph of the power supply cooling fan grill with the Thermaltake logo at its centre and an orange coloured sash leaving no doubt about the wattage rating of the power supply. The base of the box illustrates with photographs some of the power supplies "Uniqueness & Design" features which include gaming-grade components, S.P.T. Indicator, 12Vin1 single 12V rail and FanDelayCool technology all of which will be covered later in the review. The specification table, quantities and connector types along with a graph to illustrate internal power supply temperatures and the influence of ThermalTake's FanDelayCool feature complete the picture.
Thermaltake Toughpower logos on the front face and a gradually faded in photograph of the S.P.T. indicator LED panel on the rear.
Not much to see on the end panels, a little note in several different languages informing the reader that the contents are a computer power supply and to visit the Thermaltake website for detailed product information and a small label giving model number and region code.
Lift the lid and the power supply is bubble-wrapped and covered with a layer of foam for protection. A black Velcro sealed bag sporting the Thermaltake COOLall YOUR Life logo containing the modular cables is neatly tucked down the side of the power supply. The orange sash is shown in the first photograph - I guess they use the same packaging for other power supplies in the series.

The Thermaltake Toughpower XT 775W power supply is well packaged with a good set of accessories. The power cord box also comes with a set of power supply mounting screws and four Velcro cable wraps bearing the Thermaltake brand name to help tidy up the cables once installed. Two leaflets are included, a Thermaltake warranty policy and user manual - more on this later. Let's move on, have a closer look at the power supply and its features then see how well it performs.
