Short Circuit Protection:
I short circuited the 3V3, 5V0 and the 12V rail in turn. The power supply did shut down, and once the short was removed and the unit switched off for at least one second, resumed normal operation. Although listed here at the beginning of the testing section, I tend to leave this test until the very end, in case it doesn't quite go to plan.
DC Output Voltage Load Regulation:
Previous reviews have included the no load rail voltages but this particular Thermaltake Toughpower XT 750W power supply refused to start with no load so I decided to start at the 20% load point. It in no way indicates a problem with the power supply, it's just one of those things that can happen with most power supplies and many manufacturers do quote minimum rail loading figures that ensure correct power supply operation.

The Thermaltake Toughpower XT 750W produced an excellent set of DC voltage load regulation results with a difference of a few tens of millivolts from 20% to 100% loading on the 3V3, 5V0 and +12V rails. The wide swing on the -12V rail from 11.9V to 12.4V is typical of all current power supplies. No problems here, so onward with the review.
