Introduction

Today we are looking at the Eagle Aluminum Mini Server from Sky Hawk. The model number for this case is MSR-4610EPD(F). This is a great looking and very light weight aluminum case. There is no shortage of airflow, as there are five 8cm fans included with this case. So far, I like it! Let's see what else it has to offer.

Overview
Starting off with the front, you will notice the great looking aluminum finish on this Sky Hawk case. The two vents on the side of the case have 8cm fans behind them. There are four 5.25" and two 3.5" drive bays accessible from the front. The covers for the drive bays are made of aluminum and are very loose. Just a small amount of pressure on the bay covers causes them to pop inward. Behind the front vent there are two 8cm fans. Toward the bottom there are peripheral access ports. These ports run in one cable to the back of the case where they break-out and plug into your I/O ports. There are two USB, a headphone, a mic, a line-in, a volume control, a 15-pin game port and a firewire port on the front.

With the front aluminum panel removed, you can see the two 8cm fans and the PCB for the front ports. Both front fans come with removable/washable filters, which snap into place. Behind the filters there are 8cm grills mounted on each fan. The power and reset buttons are just made of painted plastic. They don't look that bad, I was just looking for something more like polished aluminum.

In the picture above you can see the two 8cm fans. These are mounted on the inside of the side panel of this case.

Looking at the inside of the Sky Hawk case, you will notice the excellent finish and ease of getting to everything. As I said before there are four 5.25" and two 3.5" external bays. There is one 3.5" internal bay under the two 3.5" external bays. There are also 3 more internal 3.5" bays mountable in a bracket at the bottom of the case, just behind the two front 8cm fans. Along the bottom of the case you can see the cable that feeds the front peripheral ports as well as the cables for the power and hard drive LEDs and the power and reset button. The feet mounted to the bottom of the case are made of plastic and spray painted silver. They can either be turned-in or turned-out.

One of the best features of this Sky Hawk case has to be the removable motherboard tray! It makes working on and installing your equipment a breeze. The motherboard tray has plenty of stand-off holes to accommodate almost any motherboard. A 8cm fan is installed on the back to exhaust hot air. Another great feature of this case is the use of thumb-screws for the expansion slots. This makes quick card changes very easy.

Once you are finished working with the motherboard tray. It just slides into the big hole on the back of the case. Then it is attached to the case with the use of four thumb-screws. As for the power supply, none is included with this case; But, they are optional! To install the power supply, remove the bracket from the back of the case. Install the bracket on your power supply and slide the power supply into the case. Then re-attach the bracket to the case with four thumb-screws.

This is a picture of the aluminum shell of the Sky Hawk case, with all the panels and the motherboard tray removed.

Conclusion
The MSR-4610 case from Sky Hawk is great looking and very functional. The removable motherboard tray makes upgrading and repairing a snap! With 10 available drive bays, there is plenty of room for hard drives, CD-ROM drives and future upgrades. All in all, a great case from Sky Hawk!!!
