Benchmarks

  • HD Tach: Quick Bench (8mb zones)
  • SiSoftware Sandra: Physical Disks and File System Benchmarks

As mentioned earlier, there is a jumper in the far right interface of the hard drive. This jumper allows you to change from standard SATA 1.5 to SATA 3.0.

Since the option is there the following benchmarks will be in both 1.5 and 3.0 GB/s, so the differences can be seen.

For SiSoftware Sandra we will only benchmark at 3.0 GB/s.

HD Tach

On our HD Tach Benchmark the Seagate Barracuda at SATA 150 stands up very well with our two other competitors, but once you take off the jumper and transform the drive to an SATA 300 the burst speeds skyrockets through the roof. So far I’m impressed; since this drive is so big I expected access times to be up in the twenties.
