ROCCAT Into Street-Proof Messenger Bag Conclusion:
The ROCCAT Into Street-Proof Messenger Bag is a great looking and stylish way to carry around your precious electronics. Made from tough Cordura nylon and put together with great attention to detail, this product proves once again that ROCCAT means business. The bag feels sturdy and should last a few years under normal use. I like the way that the space was optimized on the front and the back by integrating easy access pockets. The earphones slot is a nice touch; I personally stash away my phone and use earphones to listen to music or answer calls during my daily commute. A large pocket in the back that can hold another 14-inch or smaller laptop might come in handy, but it's mostly intended for easy access to documents or magazines. The inside of the bag is roomy enough to hold all the gear one might need to lug around on a daily basis and even some more. But the absence of any kind of internal separation - except the laptop chamber and a handful of pockets - will make it hard to organize the stuff that gets thrown in.
The implementation of these various features was nicely done, but there's one thing that could ruin the whole experience on the long run: the shoulder pad. No matter how great looking and well made a bag is, if comfort is a no show then we got a problem. Due to the materials used and the way the shoulder pad was designed, the sides of it are very stiff and the padding seems lacking. Wearing the ROCCAT Into Street-Proof Messenger Bag with a heavy load in is not comfortable at all with the provided shoulder pad. I am not sure if the Cordura nylon-based material will soften with time, but that doesn't help a potential buyer in a store now does it?
All in all, the ROCCAT Into Street-Proof Messenger Bag is a nice product with some cool features. A few tweaks could make it a must-have item for me. The interior layout could be optimized by adding another separation and changing the flat type pockets into something with more body to it. Then adding more padding - or changing the type of padding altogether - in the shoulder pad. An even nicer touch would be to have the padding be the only element that gets in touch with the shoulder for improved comfort. Selling for $79.99, the ROCCAT Into Street-Proof Messenger Bag is in competition with some heavy hitters like ECBC, Targus, and OGIO; which also offer great products in the same price bracket.
