RIOTORO Prism CR1280 Testing:

Testing involved recording temperatures for the CPU, GPU, and motherboard during idle and load phases. The load was simulated by running Prime95’s small FFTs and 3DMark Vantage for one hour. The maximum temperatures were recorded using HW Monitor 1.21.0. Please note that each case is tested from its factory setup, including location of fans, unless otherwise noted.

The CPU temperatures are tested first. The idle temperatures are right at the front of the pack at 27 °C, which is just fine. The next step is to put a load on the CPU, which cranks up the heat. We come in at 74 °C, which tells me that we have decent air moving through the case. The Thermaltake Core X9 comes in one degree cooler, and I suppose that is not a huge surprise given the massive size of the Core X9. With the two included front fans and the rear exhaust fan, the noise from the case is audible, but not excessive when they are spooled up to full speed.

Moving over to GPU testing, we see idle results coming in at 29 °C which again puts us at the front of the pack, however there is not much of a spread from low to high in the idle temperature category. Under a load, the temperature goes up to 81 °C, which is consistent with other cases. I don't usually see much variation with the GPU load testing. The video card I am using (NVIDIA GTX 770) is a reference design with a blower-style fan, which pushes the hot air out of the rear of the case. I find this design is beneficial to keeping internal case temperatures down compared to cards with fans mounted on the heat sinks that tend to circulate the hot air in the case. That is where a case with good circulation really becomes a factor, and the CR1280 certainly has good circulation.
