MSI Z270 SLI PLUS Testing:

PCMark 8 is the latest iteration of Futuremark's popular PCMark system benchmarking tool. This version uses a series of industry standard tests in five separate benchmark tests to measure aggregate performance.

SiSoft Sandra 2016 is a diagnostic utility and synthetic bench marking program. Sandra allows you to view your hardware at a higher level to be more helpful. For this benchmark, I will be running the overall performance measurement tool that utilizes a series of tests to comprehensively measure system performance.

Overall Score

Cinebench R15 is useful for testing your system, CPU, and OpenGL capabilities using the software program, CINEMA 4D. We will be using the default tests for this benchmark.

HWBot X.265 Benchmark: This benchmark takes a H.264 video and converts the output to an H.265/HVEC format. Included are both 1080 and 4K presets to measure the FPS level achieved by the processor. The default benchmarks are used with the result the FPS level at which the processor completed the workload. Measurement is in FPS.

Looking at the PCMark results, ASUS' Z170-based Maximus VIII Extreme delivers performance that is close to that of MSI's Z270-based Z270 SLI PLUS in both tests, stock and overclocked. In the Sandra testing, MSI's board is delivering higher performance overall that most likely is based on the difference in the DRAM used (3466MHz versus 3600MHz). The Cinebench results are almost spot on and are seperated by one point at stock speeds. In the HWBot X.265 benchmark, again we see the MSI board pulling slightly ahead of the Z170 M8E.
