MSI Clutch GM70: Closer Look

Once the Clutch GM70 is unboxed, it becomes easier to see how customizable the mouse really is. Besides the switchable grips, the top comes off to give an inside look at the RGB lightbar. The mouse itself is rated for 50 million clicks, which, in my book, is pretty darn impressive. This mouse is going to outlive the computer you are using it with by years! The side grips themselves come in two forms: one a shallow "claw" grip to let you use your fingers more and the other a wider "palm" grip to spread your hand out across the mouse. The palm grips took a bit of getting used to, but the larger surface area on the sides can help and does have a practical use. Without actually putting much thought into it, my hands generally fall into the claw grip most of the time when playing games, so most of the review was done with the claw side grips attached.

Underneath the mouse is the ON / OFF switch for the wireless mode, which is only present with the GM70. To the right of that switch is the pairing button used for the USB dongle if, for some reason, the mouse stops responding. During my review, I didn't have to use the paring function and it was pre-set right out of the box, which is good news for those less tech-savvy people. Next up at the front of the mouse is the removable USB cable for charging, easy storage, transportation, and if you decide to just use it as a wired mouse. I was unable to actually test how long the battery lasts because it never ran out and there are no LEDs to indicate low battery. More on that later.

Last up is something I actually missed rolled up and hidden in the third layer of the box. MSI was kind enough to include a mouse bag for easy transportation. It looks nice and makes taking your mouse with you to LAN parties or gaming events that much more enjoyable. Plus you get to show off a little while you are unpacking. Nothing wrong with an extra bit of flair. After all, the mouse is RGB lit, so once you turn it on people are going to take notice.
