Memonex is a manufacturing and marketing company, which operates predominantly in the Middle Eastern markets. However, with offices now in Canada, things may be about to change. I'm sure most people won't be familiar with the name, but they all have to start somewhere, so let's reserve judgment until the testing stage is complete. Memonex specializes in memory related products that include flash memory cards, USB flash drives, card readers, ram modules, solid state and hard disk drives. They also offer a small range of computer power supplies that range from the Silent Ex 320W to the MOD EX 1000W units.
This time around OCC is taking a look at the Memonex MOD EX 600W power supply and putting it through its paces so let's move on and have a closer look.
The packaging of the Memonex MOD EX 600W, when compared to the higher end of the power supply market, is on the small side, which immediately tells you it's not going to be the best. The red and black themed box doesn't look too bad and is quite striking. The top of the box carries a photograph of the power supply that appears on flames - perhaps not the way most manufacturers would depict their products? The Memonex logo, along with small pictorial representations of some of the main features and the power supply wattage, completes the top cover. The base of the box carries a comprehensive feature list, consisting of pictorial representations accompanied by a descriptive sentence or two for each feature.
The front and rear faces of the packaging carry the Memonex trademark along with a large red flaming MOD EX logo. The Memonex MOD EX 600W power supply, according to information supplied in the bottom corners of the front and rear faces, gives a real output power of 600W and is compliant with the ATX12V V2.3 specification.
Memonex trademarks, the MOD EX logo, and real output 600W are shown on both end panels along with the specification table and pictorial representations of some of the main features.
Lift the lid and the user manual is sat on top of a bubble wrapped power supply with cables and power cord tucked down the sides.
On the left, the bubble wrapped power supply along with a photograph of the box contents consisting of the modular cables, the user manual, and a power cord.
The packaging of the Memonex MOD EX 600W power supply is very basic, as are the enclosed accessories, let's move on and see how well it performs.
