The amount of data we go through and accumulate these days is absolutely insane. With the ever broadening landscape of the information super highway, higher resolution games, more in depth and sophisticated software, not to mention photographs, movies and music, our need to find storage room grows just as fast. The storage has to not only be secure but high speed and portable as well. It definitely doesn't hurt if it looks cool, too. To this end Maxtor has recently introduced a line up of high speed, external hard drives. The 750 GB Maxtor OneTouch III boasts bus transfer rates of up to 800 Mb/sec and sustained transfer rates of 73 MB/sec. Could this be the solution to my data dilemma?
Officially, Maxtor began its operations in 1982 and has continued to grow to become the third largest manufacturer of hard drives in the world. In 2006, Maxtor was acquired by the world’s largest hard drive producer, Seagate Technology, and as a subsidiary company continues to produce quality data storage products for the world market.
The first thing I noticed when I received the OneTouch III was how heavy the unit was. The packaging is basic black and gray with some product photographs and a lot of information on what this product is capable of. The specifications and features are clearly laid out, which is nice to see at a glance.
