NZXT Kraken X31 Conclusion:

After you review coolers for a while, you see that for the most part there is not a lot of difference between them. So, what sets this cooler apart from all the others?  What does NZXT bring to the game? A lot. NZXT has beefed up this latest version of the Kraken with a thicker radiator and that translates to performance. The pump and fan are variable speed and are conveniently controlled through NZXT's easy to use CAM Digital Control software. The CAM software gives you the ability to monitor what is going on with your pump and fan as well as other system components. The mobile app will allow you to see what is happening when you are on the go, and it will even send you messages if problems are detected.

Installation was quick and easy, especially with the extra long, flexible tubing. This gives you more freedom for radiator mounting locations depending on the style of case you have, and I like the smooth surface of the tubes.

How about performance? The Kraken X31 can easily handle the thermal load of normal daily use and the stock performance is just fine. Overclock and crank up the load, and the Kraken X31 still keeps the temperatures quietly under control. In fact, it surpassed most of the coolers I have tested, and ran even with the much larger Nepton 280L.

NZXT gives you a six-year warranty, great performance, great build quality, and the flexibility to be used as a GPU cooler with the G10 kit from NZXT (sold separately). For the $79.99 price tag, I think you get a lot of bang-for-the-buck. You get an All-in-One liquid cooler that can handle the heat of overclocking and, being an AIO, you get the space savings of a small, compact pump and remote mount radiator. No problems getting to your RAM or fan headers with this cooler. Easy installation, convenient software control, and top-notch performance all add up to great value. If you are looking for a knock-out cooler, then the Kraken X31 should be on your list.

Pros:

  • Silent operation
  • Quick, easy installation
  • CAM control software
  • Long, flexible coolant tubes
  • Six-year warranty
  • AMD & Intel socket compatibility

Cons:

  • None
