Kingston MobileLite Wireless G3 and Pro: Conclusion

Well, I can honestly say that after reviewing the MobileLite Wireless G3 and Pro from Kingston I am sold on them. I really ended up utilizing the devices with my phone and tablets a lot more than I expected, and the Pro has become a part of my everyday kit for work and travel when I leave the house. I even find myself using it to watch movies on the couch at times. They are very convenient and practical.

The prices for them are a bit high, especially the Pro, which has an MSRP on Kingston's website at the time of this review of $180 with the 64GB built-in storage, but in my opinion, it is worth it. I really liked the fact that you have a variety of storage options from USB drives to SD and MicroSD cards. You can even use them at the same time, which really makes it convenient. To save on the size I found myself using SD cards more since they sit flush and that also left the USB port open in case I needed a quick emergency charge, which happened to me one day at work because I left my Anker battery at home.

When traveling with the family these will work wonders for children, allowing you to stream content to multiple devices at the same time, keeping them busy. I have tried other drives that claim this, but after two devices you notice the lag; I did not get this at all with either the G3 or the Pro model. If you are wanting to expand your mobile storage and if you definitely have an iDevice, I would recommend these to anyone wanting more capacity on the go.

Pros:

  • Very nice app interface, easy to use
  • Lots of external storage options including SD, USB, and Internal
  • Pro has 64GB built-in storage
  • Can be used as an emergency charger
  • Quick backup solution with one click camera roll backup

Cons:

  • Battery does have drain when not being used
