Intel Core i7 5960X Extreme Edition Testing:

Cinebench R15 is useful for testing your system, CPU, and OpenGL capabilities using the software program, CINEMA 4D. We will be using the default tests for this benchmark.

X.264 Benchmark: This benchmark is used to measure the time it takes to encode a 1080p video file into the x.264 format. The default benchmark is used with an average of all four tests on each pass taken as the result.

PCMark 8.2 is the latest iteration of Futuremark's popular PCMark system performance tool. This latest version is a comprehensive tool that runs through real life scenarios to test the install hardware using a series of real life application to simulate the load.

Higher is Better

In Cinebench the low clock speed hampers the single thread results, but the addition of the rest of the seven cores really speeds up the performance. When rendering video the Core i7 5960X is faster by a wide margin in the X.264 benchmark. Scoring in PCMark is not where I would expect from both the six core 4960X and eight core 5960X.
