IntroductionIs it me or are these new videocard names just getting bigger and bigger?! Whatever happened to the days of the Geforce 2? It seems as if companies are using a series numbers to name their cards now. I dread the day when I will walk up to the counter and ask for a “ Geforce 234 659GTXX ”. Forsa, a company that not many people have heard of, has finally emerged into mainstream electronics. They offer medium, as well as high end, videocards and are trying to compete with other mid grade manufactures. We will be looking at its 7900GT, which is one of the higher end Nvidia based cards, the so-called little sister of the fabled 7900GTX.
Closer LookWhen I got home with my new toy, I was eager to just rip it open and install it in my computer. Though, as always, I took a second to inspect the packaging for defects or shipping/handling damage. I was pleased to see that the box was in good shape and appeared to have been treated well.
Now it was time to crack open the package and take a look at my new baby. This card comes packaged with the TV adaptor unit, a PCI-E Power connector that splits into two Molex connectors, two DVI-Dsub converters, along with the manual and driver disc.
The card itself comes with 2 DVI ports and a TV Out port on the back; this seems to be the chosen standard on all high end cards now.
