Diamond UGA USB 3.0/2.0 to DVI/HDMI/VGA Adapter Closer Look Cont'd:

Looking at the Diamond adapter a little closer after pulling it from its packaging, it seems like such a simple device. It is molded into a plastic body with Diamond and "USB 3.0 Adapter" printed in a sort of gold color. A DisplayLink Plug and Display logo appears to be silkscreened on as well. It is very smooth to the touch with a matte finish to not attract finger prints. A small hole is seen on the front, which we'll discover later is an indicator light that blinks as it is being used. The back has four simple screws and a recessed location for the placed sticker. The sticker provides RoHS compliance, a label for what it is, and an additional location for the model/serial number barcode to be placed. It seems pretty simple looking and had I found it like this, I'm not sure I'd know what to do with it.

One end of the magic black box has a gold plated DVI connector. It has the screw holes for the thumb screws on your cable, so you don't have to worry about a loose connection. The screw holes are a bit of a reach for my cables as well as the included dongle, but it just requires some firm pressure to really get it to work. The other end of the adapter has a USB 3.0 Micro for the included USB 3.0 cable. Other than that, there isn't much to the exterior of the adapter.

Included are two additional dongles to make the conversion for two additional options. There is a dongle for DVI to VGA and another for DVI to HDMI. Despite having the ability to have HDMI, sound is NOT supported. Both dongles have gold-plated connections and thumbscrews to hold into the DVI connection of the main adapter body. The DVI to HDMI dongle has a rotating and pivotal point to allow for right angle connections as needed. It also has the UGA letters from the white packaging box that can only remind me of the Georgia Bulldogs; however, though not spelled out for you, UGA stands for "Universal Graphics Adapter" as far as I can tell.
