Corsair Katar Optical Gaming Mouse Closer Look:

The Corsair Utility Engine (CUE) was installed from my last review of the Corsair Scimitar. It updated through Windows on its own and had a few modifications. I covered this software in decent detail in the last review – so I will only glaze over the details specific to this mouse and its changes. If you want more about the software in general, check out the Corsair Scimitar review here on OCC.

Opening up the software, the CUE has already detected I've changed mice. It brings up a splash showing the Corsair Katar and the options specific to its button configuration. As mentioned many times prior at this point, there are four buttons that are customizable. The Lighting profile is a bit limited with the Katar. There are ultimately three options despite it appearing to only have pulse or always on. If you select the "Selected Lighting Effect," you can effectively turn off the lighting, which I chose to do for my distaste in red peripherals. The last tab under profiles allows you to change Performance and DPI settings. Here you can select a pro player profile (including Bajheera) or customize to your own liking for DPI cycling.

The Action tab lets you setup some custom options. Because the CUE software allows you to share your different custom actions – there are still a couple here from the Corsair Scimitar!

The Lighting tab would normally let you customize a full lighting scheme. This is more applicable to the Corsair keyboards and some select mice. Here you see a profile setup from another device.
