Conclusion:
Price Per the Watt:
Power Supply Cosair HX1050 1050W at $209.99 = $0.20/Watt (12-2011)
The Corsair HX1050 performed very well overall. The DC voltage regulation is excellent and in combination with what as to be said are only satisfactory noise/ripple levels still means decent DC quality. The efficiency fell a little short of the 80 Plus Silver requirements following the OCC power supply testing methodology but not by much and a maximum efficiency of 89% is still pretty good.
The Corsair HX1050 is a little longer than the standard ATX power supply and this will need to be taken into account when looking for a case. There are plenty of connectors but you can't use the second modular 4+4 pin ATX12V/EPS12V cable and all six 6+2 PCI-E connectors at the same time because there's only four blue modular sockets available.
The Corsair HX1050 power supply is well made, nicely packaged and comes with a good set of accessories and all for just over $200 at most major retailers. A fair price when you look at what else is available in its class. If you are in the market for a solid power supply at a reasonable price then the HX1050 comes highly recommended. I have no hesitation in awarding the Corsair HX1050 power supply a OCC Silver award.
Pros:
- Excellent DC voltage regulation
- High efficiency
- Plenty of connectors including six 6+2 pin PCI-E and two 4+4 pin ATX12V/EPS12V
- 7 year warranty
- Build quality
Cons:
- Noise/ripple levels should be lower
