Testing:
For testing I do the usual. I run a combination of Idle and load tests. In idle testing I simply allow the computer to idle for an hour. After the hour is up, I record the current temperatures. I do the same for load except I apply load to each component. To generate CPU and chipset loads, I run Prime 95 in blend mode which fully stresses the CPU and chipset. After running for an hour, I record the current temperatures. I do the same with the HDD using HDTune and GPU using folding@home. Again, after an hour, I record the current temps. When it comes to temperatures, lowest is best of course.
Testing System:
- Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale @ 3.00GHz
- Motherboard: DFI Lanparty UT P45-T2RS
- Memory: OCZ Reaper HPC DDR2-1066 2x2GB
- Graphics Card: VisionTek HD 4870 512MB
- Power Supply: OCZ GameXStream 600W
- Hard Drive: 1 x Seagate 320GB SATA 7200.10
- OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
- Ambient Temperature: 24° Celsius
Comparison Cases:
- Thermaltake Element T
- Thermaltake Element G
- CoolerMaster Storm Sniper Black Edition
- Thermaltake Element V
- NZXT M59 - 001BK
- In Win IronClad
- Ikonik Zaria A10
- Xion AXP970
The missing CPU fan probably made all of the difference in the CPU temperatures. Very likely if I could have installed it, the CPU temp would have been much lower. Other than that, the case was on par with or better than the comparison field.
