be quiet! Silent Base 600 Testing:

Testing involved recording temperatures in degrees Celsius for the CPU and GPU during idle and load phases. The load was simulated by running Prime95’s small FFTs and 3DMark Vantage for one hour. The maximum temperatures were recorded using HW Monitor 1.21.0. Please note that each case is tested from its factory setup, including location of fans, unless otherwise noted.

Testing Setup:

The case performance was about where I expected it to be and was within a couple degrees of the other cases tested by OCC. So nothing too exciting here, but I will add that the additional sound proofing that be quiet! has incorporated into the Silent Base 600 did seem to quiet things down when the fans were running at full speed. When I examined the case with the FLIR camera, the heat was concentrated at the rear of the case, where the rear 120mm Pure Wings 2 case exhaust fan and graphics card exhaust outlet are located. If I had used a top mounted radiator or installed exhaust fans at the top, I would expect to see heat coming out of the top vent. The rest of the case was cool and quiet. The picture on the left shows the heat coming primarily from the graphics card while it was being stressed and the CPU was idle so the the rear case exhaust fan does not show much heat.

In the picture to the right, the CPU is being stressed, which is obvious from the heat being pushed out by the rear exhaust fan. The D14 cooler directed the heat to the rear 120mm exhaust fan, and out of the case. Fresh air was drawn in from the front of the case by the 140mm Pure Wings 2 fan. be quiet! does an excellent job with sound and vibration deadening. Even with the fans at full speed, the case was quiet. I even noticed that the fan from the reference-style GTX Titan GPU (which is typically loud when running at full speed) was a bit more quiet than usual.
