Azio MKG1 Mechanical Keyboard Closer look:

Here we are with the keyboard all the way out of its hiding hole. We can clearly see the aluminum finish underneath all the high raised keys in a bezel-less design. This should make it easy to clean and relocate keys if you so desire. Also looking at it we see the hotkeys clearly marked over F1 - F12, Insert, and Delete. These include the Windows hotkeys, media center hotkeys, KRO function keys, and the backlighting controls. Examining the board even further, we find the wheel for volume adjustment and your status indicators along with a standard format number pad. This should all prove useful.

Now that the included little tool is bugging me to use it, I'm going to remove a couple of keys and have a look. Placing the tool directly above and giving it a push to snap in and a gentle pull to snap the key out of its locking tab was simple. I also took the liberty of installing the palm rest into place. The front palm rest is smooth with some dimpling for grip, but we will talk more about that in the testing section. I will note as well that installation for the shot below was painless and it clacked into place just right. Here are three keys, all easily removed and reinserted. You can also get a peek at the red side skirting and underside.

Now that we have examined the board closely, we can test out the back lighting. First time I powered it up the board was a nice wake up call. Rather then illuminating all the LED lights at once, the board cycles through each one left to right top to bottom once, then illuminates based on your settings (all by default). It's a much more satisfying wake up call than ninety seven LEDs banging to life at once. Could not help myself but to fiddle with the brightness and response settings, so I will admit if you like working in the dark or the light, there is a setting to suit you. I decided to snap a photo of some bright white lighting for those of you that like it at night
