AVATAR Mercury Ultrabook AVIU-145A2 Testing:

PCMark 7: The latest iteration of Futuremark's popular PCMark system performance tool is now Windows 8 compatible. Higher is better in this test.

















Winrar: In this test a 500MB file is compressed to .rar and .zip formats respectively. Performance measured in seconds so lower scores are better.

Geekbench: Geekbench 2.4 is an easy-to-use benchmark that tests CPU and memory performance. The total suite average score is displayed below.

AIDA64 Extreme Edition: is a Windows diagnostic and benchmarking software. Two tests will be used today, the "CPU Queen" and "FPU Mandel".

HD Tune: is a software used to measure storage device performance. Today we will be looking at four key results: Burst Rate, Average Read, Access Time, and CPU Usage.

Lower is better.


The higher base-clock of the Intel Core i5 2450M gives it an edge over the 3317U. Keep in mind that the Ivy Bridge chip is made with mobile computing in mind, i.e. lower power consumption at the expense of some efficiency. In terms of storage performance, the RAID 0 array used by the Intel Smart Response Technology provides an advantage across the board.
