AOpen GeForce4 4200TI 128MB DDR Review

Were are going to run benchmarks on 3dmark2001, Quake 3 and Comanche 4. So let’s get started.

Test Setup:

  • AMD 2100+ (Not Overclocked)
  • GA-7VRXP
  • GeForce4 4200TI
  • Memory 512MB DDR(Infineon)
  • WinXP Pro
  • Detonator driver version 40.41
  • 3dmark2001

The 4200TI really out performs the 8500 on these tests.

Tests were closer this time, as you can see the 8500 won the AA4x test.

As you can see by this test the 4200Ti doesn't like high resolutions and AA turned on. The 8500 did awesome in the AA2X and 4X test compared to the 4200TI.

    Comanche 4

The 4200TI won the first two tests and the last test the 8500 won.

The 4200TI just beat the 8500 on the first test lost by one frame on the second test but lost the last test by a large amount.

Once again the 4200Ti won the first test barely, and lost the last two tests. As you can see once again the 4200Ti does not perform well at high resolutions or with AA turned on. The results that we got on the 8500 I don't think were completely right, I think that the drivers may have been blocking the proper test from being ran. I will be updating scores if I do have different results.

    Quake 3

Here the 4200Ti out performs the 8500 in every test but not by a huge margin like some would expect, but still the 4200Ti comes out on top here.

As a gamer card the 4200TI met the mark, but for having the 128MB of memory I did expected the card to do a lot better against the 8500. Quality has to go to the 8500 but performance I would have to say the 4200TI but not by much. If you are looking to step into the lower end TI gaming cards a 4200TI might be all you need. Overall I thought the card did all right but I wasn't overly impressed with it.
