We have some news here about AMD's move to a 7 nm manufacturing process for its products. On the official @AMDNews Twitter account, the company has stated it has the 7 nm Radeon Instinct product running in its labs. This product has been announced before and will leverage the Vega architecture to accelerate machine learning. It will also be the company's first 7 nm product, but there is no word on if it may find some kind of move to a consumer product.

Referencing the AMD teleconference, Bob Marston has stated on Twitter that according to Lisa Su, AMD's CEO, the company will be using both GlobalFoundries and TSMC for manufacturing 7 nm products, and that TSMC will go first. Before splitting off, GlobalFoundries was the fabrication side of AMD and following the split the partnership between them had limited AMD's use of other manufacturers. This contact has since been revised, better enabling AMD to go to other manufacturers, such as TSMC, though as I recall it must pay GlobalFoundries for doing so. Apparently AMD has now found a case where the fee will be worth it.
